Commonly Asked Questions:
_ What is the directory and how does it work?
The Charlottesville Black Business Directory started in 2018 to help support Black businesses for Small Business Saturday. With the help from the Equity Center at UVa, we are able to provide this valuable resource. Currently, this directory is being used by city officials, Albemarle County’s Black Cville initiative, and has garnered local attention as an official source for local Black businesses!
– How do I add a business?
You may add a business to our directory by visiting our ‘Contact’ page and selecting ‘Submit a Business.’
– How do you determine which businesses to add?
We add any Charlottesville-based or surrounding area (think Albemarle, Fluvanna, Louisa, etc.). This business must also be at least 50% Black-owned and have a phone number, email, website, or social media page to list.
– What do I do if I see an incorrect business listing?
We rely on our community to help us keep this list accurate and up-to-date. If you see something that’s not right, contact us via the form on our ‘Contact’ page or email us at cvilleblkbiz@gmail.com.
